Trainings & Programs

Parent & Staff Training

Our staff is trained to identify areas of need for each family member, as well as adults working with any given individual. Parents, caregivers, and all adults working with the learner will be trained on basic Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques, terminology, and procedures. We will also help guide the team on IEP development, data collection procedures, data analysis, and building overall independence in the learner across settings.

The primary objective of our training is educating parents, caregivers and staff to improve the quality of services that any one child is receiving across environments. Focused staff training is individualized through staff surveys to identify concerns related to specific program situations.  Our staff training can be conducted in small or large group settings for staff, administrators, and/or parents.

Some topics of interest have included: language development (e.g., social pragmatics, speech and language disorders) daily living skills (e.g., toilet training, feeding programs), behavior (e.g., whole class/individual reinforcement systems, functional behavioral assessment), social skills (e.g., increasing play skills, friendships), and teaching styles (e.g., natural environment teaching, errorless teaching).

RBT Supervision

Our Registered Behavior Technicians have over 48 hours of training and/or coursework in ABA and are continuously supervised by an LBC and our leadership team.  All technicians have a minimum of 40 hours of classroom training in ABA techniques in accordance with the BACB Guidelines for Responsible Conduct of Behavioral Analysts. They have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Special Education, Psychology or related fields. They are all under the direct supervision of a Board Certified (LBC).

Adolescent Social Group

We offer weekly Teenage Social Groups at our location. The (ASG) tackles challenging social issues for the adolescent. We will address issues such as: developing and maintaining friendships, teamwork, communication with peers, strategies for handling complex emotions, challenges with nonverbal communication skills, bullying, rules for success with social media, dating and more! From small group instruction to structured social outings, your teen will learn appropriate ways to build lasting relationships with friends!

Social Skills Groups

Our groups provide direct instruction through a variety of teaching techniques that include modeling, role-play activities, videos and games. Each child joins a small (2-5 children) group according to a functioning level, age, objectives/parent priorities, topic interests, and activity level. Each group is lead by a trained ABA instructor and supervised by a Licensed Behavior Specialist (Groups meet weekly).

Behavioral Health Treatment, Intervention and Diagnosis

At our center for treatment of Autism and related disorders, we begin with a multidisciplinary assessment of autism. We study medical records and use diagnostic assessments to plan autism treatment. If a child or loved one has signs or symptoms related to autism or other behavioral disorders, our center will provide a continuum of care and supports. From Behavior Reduction Programming and Treatment to Behavior Intervention Plan and parent training, you can count on our autism services to guide and monitor you on every step of the journey.
Autism treatment is not limited to the behavioral interventions at our center but extends to parents and caregivers training on Applied Behavior Analysis or ABA techniques and therapy. It is important for the child or adolescent with autism and related disorders to receive education on language development, daily living skills, behavior and more. Our autism treatment center will help create a Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) to increase appropriate alternative behaviors and document interventions formally.

Our interventions are designed to focus on teaching alternative positive replacement behaviors whenever possible.  The overall goal of our consultation is the reduction of the targeted behaviors of concern. All our interventions are based on your needs and our analysis of the function of the behavior (FBA).
Problem behaviors are widely acknowledged as the most challenging and stressful issues faced by parents and schools related to special needs children. Research is clear that interventions that do not focus on positive replacement behaviors for problem behavior will be unsuccessful in the long-term elimination of such problem behaviors.
